Kim Kardashian and her former assistant, Stephanie Shepherd, seemed to prove that they've put everything behind during Kourtney Kardashian's birthday party.

This seems likely as Kourtney's 39th birthday celebration became a way for the two to finally mend their broken relationship. In the clip uploaded in Kim's Instagram Story, the 37-year-old KKW Beauty owner can be seen close to Shepherd and even had her arm around her former assistant as they cheered for the celebrant.

Fractured Relationship

Shepherd worked for Kim since 2013 as her personal assistant and was a former Cleveland Cavaliers dancer. However, fans of the Kardashian sisters have probably been familiar of her, as she casually appeared in the E! reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Because of that, she had formed a bond with her boss's family. She was practically beside Kim in public appearances, that is until she became one of the top persons in her boss's company.

Shepherd went on to become the COO of KKW Beauty, handling and taking care of the business, while Kim, then the mother of two, was away. The happy days, however, was cut short, as she was fired as fast as her promotion was announced.

The public were shocked of the news, and rumors that Shepherd and Kim ended up having bad blood circulated. At the time, insiders claimed that the assistant felt overwhelmed with the work entrusted to her, prompting the reality star to unload her with the burden. Sources also said the decision to part ways was "mutual."

However, as much as this was what surfaced, it was also established that Shepherd indeed seemed to have hard feelings, as she did not speak with Kim after the professional fallout. Even so, she remained close to her ex-boss's family.

It was that exactly — Shepherd's closeness to the Kardashians, particularly Kourtney — that was the reason she was axed off the company, as per another source. Apparently, Kim did not like that her assistant became a fixture in their appearances that made her a celebrity and wanted her to stay more in the background. Furthermore, the TV personality wanted to maintain a professional relationship.

In one episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians last year, Kim aired her concern over the relationship of Shepherd and Kourtney, as her then assistant had been airing her grief to the ex of Scott Disick. The wife of Kanye West further stressed that her assistant's problem with work should be directly conveyed to her.
